There are a lot of reasons that you might want to start a blog.

- You might just like writing
- You might want to express yourself
- You might want to vent/rant
- You might want to make money
- You might want to build your brand
- You might want to sell a service
- You might want to show off pictures of your cats
Whatever your reason is, you will find that there is a lot of satisfaction in sitting down and churning out posts… even if no one is reading them. Usually, the no one is reading part won’t last long if you consistently blog for a few months.
This is key if your blogging has something to do with making money.
What Should Your Blog Be About?
I heard a great tip one time about how to decide what you should blog about… the tip is:
Start a personal blog, and start writing posts about everything and anything that interests you. By doing this, you will quickly find out what topics interest you the most, and then you can either dedicate your blog to that topic, or start another blog dedicated to that topic.
How To Get Ideas For Blog Posts
One thing that happens to new bloggers after their first few posts is they start to run out of ideas about things to write about. Luckily, this is easy to remedy. You can find writing inspiration in TV shows, movies, other blogs, Facebook, Twitter, your friends, your family, and even your job. Write about one certain situation that came up at work. Write about the latest episode of your favorite show. There are ideas everywhere about what to write about.
The main thing when you’re starting out is to just write. Work on your blog until you have 20-30 blog posts, and then start to think about possibly making money from blogging.
